Volume scales roughly with dog count. Time on site does not, and that surprises people who expect the price to be linear.
Multiple dogs distribute waste differently. They patrol fence lines together, which concentrates material along the perimeter. They collectively settle on a preferred corner, which becomes dense. And older material gets trodden in rather than left sitting, which turns a picking-up job into a searching job by about day five.
When weekly stops being enough
It depends on lot size more than dog count, which is the opposite of what most people assume. Three dogs on half an acre often hold weekly comfortably, because the material spreads out and stays findable.
Three dogs on a quarter acre usually do not. By day six the yard has passed the point where a visit is picking up and become one that is searching. What if I have more than four dogs?
We quote the property rather than extending the tier. Above four dogs the volume and the time on site stop tracking the published card in a predictable way, and guessing a number would mean rushing the yard or repricing you later. Neither is acceptable.
Is weekly enough for three dogs?
Sometimes, but it depends more on lot size than dog count. Three dogs on a quarter acre concentrate waste enough that weekly becomes a searching job by day six. On a half acre it spreads out and weekly holds. We review it at ninety days either way.
