Why this is a safety service, not a convenience
Bending repeatedly, twisting while holding something, and walking uneven ground with your eyes down are three of the most common ways somebody older falls in their own garden. A garden is also where a fall is least likely to be witnessed quickly.
A fall at that age is frequently a hip, and a hip is frequently the start of a much longer decline. Set against that, the weekly cost of not doing the task yourself stops looking like a lifestyle expense and starts looking like a fairly cheap way to remove a known risk.
The thing people are actually worried about
Most people who call about this are not struggling with their dog. They are struggling with one specific task, and underneath the call there is often a worry that admitting it is the first step toward somebody deciding the dog has to go.
It is not, and it is worth saying plainly. Yard maintenance is one job among many. Feeding, company, and the routine that gets somebody out of a chair in the morning are all completely unaffected by another person picking up the yard once a week.
What the service does not ask of you
The point of this plan is that it runs without requiring anything physical from you, so it is worth being explicit about what that means in practice.
You do not need to be outside, meet anyone at the gate, unlock anything on the day, carry a bin, or handle a bag. You do not need to be home. If a gate code changes, a phone call is enough and nobody needs you to write anything down.
You also do not need to inspect the work. The photograph shows the yard and the latched gate, and it arrives whether or not you ask for it. If something was missed, telling us is one message and the fix happens on the next visit rather than becoming a discussion.

Do I need to be there when you come?
No, and for most people on this arrangement that is the point. If you would rather be there, tell us and we will keep the same slot each week so it is predictable. Either way we knock rather than appearing at the side gate unannounced.
Can you help with anything else while you are here?
We clean the yard and we walk the dog. We are not a care service and we will not pretend otherwise, because the moment we start doing things outside that scope we are doing them without training or insurance for it.
